Greenwich Instruments Limited was established in 1979 by Managing Director Geoff Dove, former Dolby Labs engineer. The company was originally located in Greenwich and opened it's Swanley office in 2005.

The company produced the first ever non-volatile RAM in a dual-in-line package winning the Electronics Times AES / TOBIE award in 1985. The popular success of this memory means it is still produced today for the specialized laboratory environment.

Today the company is keyed for lead-free (Pb Free), surface mount production and conforms to the latest ISO9001:2000 standards.
